Lockheed Martin, SpaceX, Tesla & Updates 5/27/16

Hello everyone! I just renewed my domain and hosting for this site... good thing I haven't forgotten about it. So it's been a while since I've posted on my blog. Well, due to sleep deprivation and insomnia, I have finally found a moment to sit at my desk and whip up a post.

So the past 5 months have been an extreme whirlwind for me. I finished up my 3rd to last semester of school, I taught a 3 week accelerated course of Aerodynamics, and now I find myself preparing for a life altering experience. Let's first talk about Lockheed Martin!

Lockheed Martin
So some of you may have seen my news about accepting a position at Lockheed Martin. Well, the day is fast approaching, my official start date is May 31st! I can't quite disclose my official role there... Just know I'm doing something I love but which is also crazy cool. (I really can't wait!) I'll update you all time permitting, though unfortunately I cannot speak about the nature of my work due to the whole DOD contractor business ;).

Next on the list is SpaceX. Well (yesterday) SpaceX was scheduled to launch a F9 rocket carrying a ThaiCom sat. Unfortunately, the F9 rocket experienced a glitch with its second stage actuator (the device which lets the nozzle move around for positioning). Most likely nothing, but worth a scrubbed launch window. Good news is the next launch attempt is tomorrow evening! It's another geostationary transfer mission which means its a fast and hot mission. Likelihood of landing is not super high, but neither was the last rocket they stuck on the pad... so GO F9!

Before I dive into Tesla let me update you on my current car situation. Some of you may know that I have a Ford Mustang. Well, the correct tense of that sentence now is I 'had' a Ford Mustang. She's been sold to a lovely owner and I am currently leasing a vehicle! Which vehicle? Sadly not a Tesla... but its a 2017 Chevrolet Volt! Why? It's cheap! I got a great lease deal so it was a no brainer and due to my travels this summer, it makes great sense to get an EV/gas generator car.

So how does this relate to Tesla? Well, I have a Model 3 on order and I'm absolutely chuffed to bits about it. While its a ways off from being launched, at least my name is some where on the list! I've had quite a change of heart over the past few months about vehicles. I've always been an advocate about our planet. I want to keep our planet healthy but I realized that I need to be 100% fully invested. I just can't talk to people about it, I must walk in the footsteps I describe on a daily basis. So I've decided to go for a Volt now, and when the Model 3 comes around, I'll be 100% electric. Hopefully I'll be solar by then as well.

Anyway, I should be in bed right now. I'll apologize in advance for typos, nonsense, or any other weird grouping of words or phrases in the writing above.
